actor. singer. dancer.
hi there! my name is Matheus (muh-TAY-uhs) Ting. i’m 5’11, 175 lbs —” and that is my usual audition spiel.
but beyond my physical attributes, multi-hyphenate-threat performer capabilities, and new habit of not capitalizing the first letter of a sentence, I like to think of myself as a storyteller and creator.
bio
I was born in Singapore, and moved to NYC in 2017 to pursue my performer dreams. In a paradoxical (but definitively humorous) twist of fate, I rediscovered my Asian identity in a land far away from my birthplace.
I love being Asian, am extremely proud to be a male Asian actor, and have cultivated a newfound respect for my East Asian ancestry. One of my greatest desires is to continue being involved in works and projects that champion and showcase excellence in Asian-ness.
To that end, apart from the various shows I have done (see resume), I have written a 60-ish minute pilot episode entitled “The Big Bite”. It presents Asian excellence as a regular, every day thing — which, really, is basically a reflection of reality, isn’t it?
I am currently writing and working on an unscripted podcast and a short movie. I also have many more ideas percolating, and I wish I had all the time in the world to explore every single one!
